How I lost that one pen!
There are two kinds of pens in this world.
The ones we buy in bulk and never think about… and The One.
The One writes smoother than anything we’ve ever used. It feels right in our hand. It makes our handwriting look better and the crazy part is, we don’t even know where it came from, maybe it was borrowed and never returned, maybe it just appeared one day in our pencil case like a gift from the universe.
But once we find The One, we protect it with our life.
We don’t lend it out. We don’t leave it unattended. We keep it tucked away in our bag, our drawer, our pocket, because you know the moment it leaves our sight, it’s gone forever.
And then, one day… it happens.
We reach for it, and, it’s not there.
We check our desk. Our bag. Every pocket. Under the chair. Inside books we haven’t even opened. Nothing.
It’s vanished.
And the worst part is…
Nobody ever sees it happen.
No one steals it. No one finds it on the floor. No one returns it saying, Hey, you dropped this. It just stops to exist.
And now, you’re stuck using some random, cheap backup pen that scratches against the paper like nails on a chalkboard. Your handwriting looks like a doctor’s prescription. The magic is gone.
And you realize… you were never just writing with a pen.
You were writing with history. With trust. With effortless perfection.
But now? You’re stuck questioning your entire existence.
Did I leave it at home? Did someone take it? Did it roll under the desk? Am I losing my mind? Is this how life works? Do we just… lose the things we love with no explanation?
This is not just about a pen.
This is about loss. About betrayal. About the deep, unspoken pain of knowing that some things, no matter how much you cherish them, will leave without saying goodbye.
And the worst part?
You know you’ll move on. You know you’ll find another pen.
But it will never be The One.
And that? That’s the real tragedy.
